Nestled on the picturesque island of Ischia, in the Bay of Naples off the Campania coast, stands the Casa d'Ambra winery. Established in 1888, this vineyard's roots trace back to Francesco d'Ambra from Calabria. Yet, it was his son, Mario, who elevated Casa d'Ambra to prominence by championing Ischian wines and their distinctive native grapes. Currently at the helm is the skilled winemaker and enologist Andrea d'Ambra, Mario's nephew. Andrea oversees not just the estate's vineyards but also collaborates with a devoted group of local farmers who cultivate grapes for the winery. Among their offerings is a delightful white wine, a harmonious blend of the native Biancolella and Forestera grapes. It presents a full yet crisp profile with fresh acidity, evoking flavors of grass and sweet corn, culminating in a distinctive salty and quinine finish.
