The soil composition includes Miocene molasses (1 to 1.5 meters deep) lying on a thick layer of clay heavily laden with pebbles, covered by a layer of alpine diluvium, commonly known as "rolled pebbles." The grape varieties used are 65% Grenache Noir, 15% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, and a mix of Cinsault, Clairette, and others making up 5%. The average age of the vines is 70 years.
