75% Merlot and 25% Pignolo make up the blend. These vines are rooted in ponca, a unique layered blend of marl and sandstone clay, characteristic of this part of Friuli. The south-facing slope, adjacent to the winery, nurtures these vines, which average around 30 years in age. Producing about 45 hl/ha, they are organically cultivated and manually harvested, a standard for all Radikon vineyards. After destemming, the grapes undergo a natural co-fermentation in 25-hectoliter oak containers, without adding yeasts, sulfur, or regulating temperature. The initial phase involves a roughly two-week maceration, with 3-4 punchdowns daily. This wine is then aged in the vat for two years and eventually bottled unfiltered and unfined. The “RS” or “Rosso Sasa” was first introduced in 2014, and had its sequels in 2017 and 2018. It belongs to the 750-ml “S-line”, with the "S" acknowledging its creator, Sasa Radikon.
