Situated mainly in Saumur of the Loire Valley, Domaine du Pas Saint Martin also boasts vineyards in Anjou and Côteaux du Layon. Inherited from his grandfather, Laurent Charrier took the reins of the estate in 1994 and promptly set his sights on achieving organic certification, a milestone he reached by 1997. The domain's cellars are uniquely positioned amidst troglodyte caves, carved from ancient marine sediments. Specializing in Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, Laurent expertly transforms these grapes into refined reflections of the local terroir. Deeply committed to biodiversity, both in his vineyards and the neighboring forests, Laurent co-founded "Le Monde de Pierre Frite" in 2009. This interactive educational program is designed to enlighten children about the significance of biodiversity. The estate's dedication to eco-friendly operations was recognized in 2012 when it was awarded the Eco-Trophée by the Parc National Loire-Anjou-Touraine, celebrating its sustainable vineyard management, winemaking, and efforts in heightening environmental consciousness.
