Michael Brughelli played a pivotal role in co-founding Scar of the Sea, eventually selling his share in 2020 to start his consulting firm, Vignerons. His extensive background in viticulture is marked by notable experiences, including a seven-year tenure as the director of grape sales for the Miller family, proprietors of Bien Nacido, and a decade-long stint as the general manager at Volk. This wine, crafted from the final harvest at Bianchi Bench Vineyard, underwent spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and was pressed off its skins after 18 days. The maturation process spanned 13 months, utilizing 70% neutral French oak and 30% new French oak. The result is a wine with a pale ruby hue, offering aromas of bing cherry, raspberry, and dragonfruit. On the palate, it presents bright red fruit flavors, subtle earthy notes, and the delicate essence of forest floor.
